Jeremy Fransen, PhD

Chicago Kettlebell Club (CKC) Exercise Physiologist, Kettlebell Sport Researcher & Exercise Science Professor at Loyola University Chicago. A lifelong athlete, he has competed in Triathlon, Strongman & Kettlebell Sport. Certified as a Strength & Conditioning Specialist, Eleiko Olympic Weightlifting Coach & Corrective Exercise Specialist, Dr. Fransen (aka Dr. J) has more than three decades of experience in training individuals from various backgrounds.

Aside from kettlebell sport, his research interests include: resistance exercise and hormonal adaptations; nutritional and exercise countermeasures to mitigate musculoskeletal wasting; psychophysiology of sport and exercise; exercise in extreme environments including altitude physiology, heat stress, cold stress, and microgravity; exercise immunology; and exercise and aging.

When he is not teaching or competing, Dr. J enjoys spending time with his wife Bea Rodriguez and their pet tortoise Khudu (CKC’s Master Jedi Guru).

At the Summit, he will:
*present on “Cardiorespiratory Effects of Kettlebell Sport Snatch,” a research study conducted at last year’s Summit,
*conduct new kettlebell sport research throughout the Summit weekend, and
*present on “Ergogenic Aids & PEDs in Kettlebell Sport.”
